Congratulations, Kris! I'm overjoyed for you and I can't wait to finally read Local Heavens!! This newsletter was such a treat to read today, thank you for sharing your journey with us <3
A little late but Congratulations! Local Heavens sounds really intriguing.
I completely agree on writing what you would love to read. Otherwise it's like an uphill battle- on skates. Constantly reminding myself on not worrying too much about the market while writing and just figuring out later on how to tweak my pitch to fit and stand out.
"contemporary literary fiction" I still want the world the be different, and that is why I write on the genres you mentioned and then left. The word fiction is there for something tough... just my opinion. But, congrats on your publishing!
Congrats, congrats Kris! This is amazing and I'm so immensely excited for you and Local Heavens just ahhhhhhhh. Thank you for sharing this with us and I can't wait for your art to be out in the world!
However, now that I've looked into Bindery and Inky Phoenix, I have a lot of questions. I remember how skeptical so many of us in the community were about the whole tastemakers thing. As an author working with them, can you explain? Because to be honest, neither of their websites/instagrams has been very illuminating.
That would be great, thank you. I was wondering whether you would do one. I am absolutely excited to see this on the shelves, mostly I'm just trying to understand this model because it is very new and I'd never seen anything like it before.
i can go over the process more when i do my q&a maybe mid to late november. from the author side, my agent and i have very much enjoyed working with the whole Bindery team!
